AAP ‘state conference’ to press for full statehood for Delhi

New Delhi, July 1 : The one-day ‘state conference’ of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to press for its demand to make Delhi a full fledged state will soon kick off here on Sunday.
The conference will be held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here this afternoon and the party has urged people to come and join this campaign.
“Request to all to come at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium and join in this fight (full statehood for Delhi),” senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said in a tweet.
The holding of the conference comes after the Delhi Government recently held a special session of the state assembly to press its demand of full statehood for Delhi.
Speaking on the assembly on June 11, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had demanded for Delhi full statehood and accused Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal of “creating obstacles” in the developmental works being carried out by his government.
On the same day, Delhi Assembly had passed a resolution demanding the Centre to bring a Constitution Amendment Bill in Parliament to grant full to statehood to Delhi.
