Kasargod, Jul 9 : Five persons, including three women, were killed and 8 others injured, four of them seriously when the Jeep in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Uppala in this district on Monday.
Police said the deceased were identified as Befathi (65), Mushtaq (41), Naseema (38), Asma (30) and Imtiaz (28). They are residing at Thalappady K C Road in Karnataka.
The victims were returning back after attending a function in Palakkad when their Jeep was smashed by the goods-laden lorry, proceeding to Kochi from Mangaluru, on Naya Bazar National Highway in Uppala around 0600 hours this morning.
The injured including four children were admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, Police added.
