President, PM congratulate France on football World win

New Delhi, July 16 :  President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders have congratulated the French team for their spirited victory against Croatia.
In an exciting match in Moscow on Sunday late evening, France beat Croatia 4-2.
“Congratulations to the determined players from France for winning the FIFA World Cup!
Special wishes to the gallant Croatia team,” President Kovind said in his missive.
Vice President Mr Naidu wrote in his message: “Congratulate France for winning 2018 FIFA World Cup
final beating Croatia 4 – 2, in Russia. Excellent team work displayed by France to finish the match in regulation time”.
Prime Minister Modi was one of the first global leaders to congratulate France for their achievement.
“An excellent match! Congratulations to France for winning the FIFA World Cup. They played wonderfully through the
tournament and during the World Cup Final,” Mr Modi tweeted also tagging his message to the French President Emmanuel Macron.
He also congratulated Croatia for their “spirited game” and said Croatian performance in this year’s
World Cup has been “historic”.
Prime Minister in another missive congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia for the successful organisation of the FIFA World Cup this year.
“The tournament was memorable and widely watched,” Mr Modi wrote.
Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in his message wrote: “A World Cup Final that the world will remember! France lifting the Football World Cup after 20 yrs & Croatia won hearts across with their
brilliant game throughout the tournament and making to the finals for the 1st time.
A match historic by every measure!”
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio among others also congratulated France on winning the World Cup.
He also wrote: “Well played Croatia. Well done #FIFA & #Russia. Football & sport have once again united the world and brought nations and people closer”.
