TDP to enlist support from Shiv Sena, Akali Dal to move no trust motion against Centre
New Delhi, July 16 : Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the ruling political outfit in Andhra Pradesh, has started interacting with non-BJP and non-Congress parties including the NDA constituents Akali Dal, Shiv Sena and LJP ahead of monsoon session of Parliament to move ‘No-Confidence motion’ against the centre over non-fulfillment of Special category Status and other promises made to Andhra Pradesh.
According to party sources, TDP MPs – who have formed six separate groups – will presidents and parliamentary party leaders of Trinamool Congress, Biju Janata Dal, Akali Dal, AAP, CPI, CPI-M, NCP, Shiv Sena, DMK, AIADMK, JD(S), Samajwadi, BSP, JD(U), RJD, LJP, AIMIM, Kerala Congress, INLD, RLD, Sikkim Democratic Front among others and seek their support for moving the no trust motion against the Narendra Modi government.
TDP MPs have tried for the same in previous sessions also but could not muster adequate numbers and also due to pandemonium in the Lower House of parliament – preventing the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to do the headcount of members who want to support the no trust motion.
In a letter addressed to all leaders of various parties, TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has charged the erstwhile Congress-led UPA with adopting “unscientific process” during the bifurcation of Andhra and for creation of new state of Telangana.
Mr Naidu, whose party TDP was part of the BJP-led conglomerate NDA till March this year, has accused the Modi government with failing to “respect BJP’s own manifesto” of 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
As part of the exercise of interacting with leaders from various parties, TDP Parliamentary Party leader Y.S.Chowdary along with MPs Konakalla Narayana, Nimmala Kristappa and Malyadri Sriram met TRS Parliamentary Party leader K.Keshava Rao in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Y.S.Chowdary after the meeting said, “We sought TRS’ support for no-confidence motion that TDP will move against the centre in the monsoon session. We discussed on injustice done to AP and implementation of promises made to Andra Pradesh. TRS also agreed on injustice meted out to Andhra. TRS particularly said that centre must implement all the pending promises in AP Reorganisation Act at the earliest”.
TDP leader claimed TRS also would “extend support to Andhra Pradesh in this regard’.
Two TDP Union Ministers in Modi government – Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y S Chowdary – resigned following an announcement from TDP chief Mr Naidu.
