New Delhi, July 21 : A day after high-decibel war of words in Parliament, Union Information and
Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore on Saturday targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi
for his ‘jumla strike’ remarks.
“Rahul Gandhi has the audacity to call Surgical Strikes, a ‘Jumla Strike’. It is shameful to use this kind of
language for our soldiers who protect our borders at the cost of their lives. It is an insult to their valor,”
Mr Rathore tweeted.
Mr Rathore was decorated with Ati Vishist Seva Medal. He had also bagged a silver medal in the 2004 Olympic Games and had served as a commissioned officer in The Grenadiers regiment of the Indian Army.
Referring to Mr Gandhi’s speech made earlier in Lok Sabha during the debate on no-trust motion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his response said on Friday late evening that such remarks against armed forces by dismissing the surgical strike against Pakistan as ‘Jumla strike’ was unbecoming of a remark of a public leader.
According to Congress leaders, however, Mr Gandhi’s remark was not against armed forced but were directed
against Prime Minister for his ‘hyperbole’ on false promises made to the people including “transferring of
Rs 15 lakh to every bank account and on creating of two crore jobs”.
