Pattan: The Pattan sub district administration of Baramulla on Tuesday seized the fake certificates of alleged fake doctor Tariq Ahmad Telli who was prescribing medicine at different places of North Kashmir.
The administration earlier on Saturday sealed a medical clinic at Hyderbeigh for providing space and displaying the sign board of a “fake doctor”, who used to treat patients without any valid degree and license to practice the profession at various places of North Kashmir. The officials also lodged an FIR against the ‘fake doctor’ identified as Tariq Ahmad of Chukur Pattan of Baramulla district.
A joint team of officials headed by Executive Magistrate Pattan Syed Faheem, Block Medical Officer Pattan Masrat Ahmad, SDPO & SHO Pattan sealed the USG clinic, X-ray plant and laboratory of Dar Medicate at Hyderbeigh Pattan.
An official said that Dar Medicate was sealed for providing space and displaying signboards of the “fake doctor”.
Block Medical Officer Pattan Dr Masrat said that the Dar Medicate was sealed after different complaints against the owner of the clinic were received.
He said that investigation in this matter is going on.
Earlier in a viral video on social media, “Dr Tariq Ahmad” an “orthopedic doctor” without holding any genuine degree was seen prescribing medicines and treating patients at a clinic. The ‘fake doctor’ is said to be operating at many clinics of North Kashmir with “Orthopedic surgeon holding MBBS, MS degree” written on prescription slip.
While talking to KPS, SHO Pattan Mohammad Saleem said that after various complaints an FIR was lodged against the erring person at police station Pattan.
“An FIR under number 156/2018 US 420, 336 has been registered against the erring person. We are investigating the matter,” SHO Pattan said.
He said that police has launched a manhunt and the erring person will be arrested soon and persons involved in this crime will be also arrested.
Tariq Ahmad Teli, 32, a resident of Chokar Pattan, according to video was “practising” as orthopaedic doctor falsely claiming to be MBBS from MTR university Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh, and MS from Rajiv Medical College.
It has surfaced that the imposter was not even graduate and has been illegally practising for the last several years across north Kashmir.
“The fake doctor who is not even graduate used to see hundreds of patients every day at three different clinics across north Kashmir. Ironically, the number of patients visiting his clinic grew each passing day,” said Altaf Hussain, a medical representative from north Kashmir.
Following a complaint by the block medical officer Pattan, the police station Pattan has lodged FIR 156/2018 against the imposter doctor under sections 420, 336 RPC and search is on to arrest him, sources said.
BMO Pattan, Dr Masrat while talking to KPS said the clinic at Hyderbag Pattan, where the imposter doctor was practising, has been sealed following violation of norms by the owner of the clinic.
“Besides violating the guidelines set up for operating a clinic, the owner of the clinic has failed to verify the antecedents of the doctors operating at his clinic. Therefore, the clinic has been sealed in presence of a magistrate and the police officials,” the BMO said.
As per sources, the authorities are likely to take action against other clinics also where the imposter doctor was practising.
The authorities on Saturday have sealed clinics in Pattan area of Baramulla district after it surfaced that they were hiring a fake doctor.
Official sources in the health department said that a joint team by BMO Pattan, executive magistrate, SDPO Pattan, SHO Pattan sealed the USG clinic, X ray plant, and Lab of Dar Medicate at Hayderbeigh Pattan for displaying the sign board of a fake doctor.
BMO Pattan Masrat Iqbal while confirming the report said that these clinics of Dar Medicate were sealed after complaints and violations of guidelines. He said that it was surfaced that a fake doctor Tariq Ahmad Teli of Choker Pattan who was only 9th pass and has received fraud medical certificate was practicing at several clinics across the north Kashmir including in Handwara, Sopore, and Pattan areas.
He further said that they sealed three other clinics at different areas of Pattan for violations.
Police has registered a case against the doctor and medical shop owners.
