Sopore inhabitants protests against attempts to abrogate Article 35-A
Sopore: Protests rock in Sopore ahead of Supreme Court decision on Article 35-A which is scheduled to hear a PIL challenging the Validity of the article 35-A on Monday afternoon.
Scores of members of coordination committee Sopore, which constitutes civil society, traders federation, teachers forum Baramulla, fruit growers and dealers association Sopore, NGO Dawn, private school teachers association and Anjuman Moin-ul Islam sopore joins with other local people including senior citizens of Sopore held a peaceful protest demonstration at the vicinity of Jamia Masjid Sopore against the attempts to abrogate article 35-A.
The protest was held under the president of Anjuman Moin-ul islam Sopore Aziz Ahmad Bhat the protest was against attempts to dilute the special status of the state, during the protest protesters holds a placards and shouting slogans to dismiss PIL on Article 35A
While shouting slogans against the attempts of abrogate of articles 35-A by the government of India, The protest rally was later marched towards ADC office Sopore to produce a memorandum in order to registered their protest against the abrogate the article 35-A,the huge protest march passed through main bazaar, main chowk, and tehsil Road area of town and disperse with peacefully at ADC office Sopore.
Also scores of members of civil society Sopore holds a protest rally near Guru Hospital at Sopore-Kupwara road against the attempts to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the protesters holding placards and banners and registered their protest against the abrogation of special status.
Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed across north Kashmir with all shops, business establishments, petrol pumps and government offices remain shut while as public transport remained off the roads in all major towns of north Kashmir including Sopore, Pattan, Handwara, Kupwara, Hajin and Bandipora due to the strike called the joint Resistance leadership (JRL) on two days Sunday and Monday as supreme court is scheduled to hear a PIL challenging the validity of the Article 35-A
