Omar’s party responsible for diluting special status of JK: JKDFP

Terms two day shutdown as historic

Srinagar, Aug 07 : Reacting very sharply to the remarks of Omar Abdullah about the protests in favour of Article 35-A by the pro-freedom leaders and people, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has said pro-freedom people want to safeguard the parts of the Indian Constitution which prove the speciality- in other words the disputed nature and the identity of the people – of the state.
Terming Omar Abdullah’s party historically responsible for diluting the special status of the state from time to time for mere political power, the JKDFP spokesperson said that protest favouring Article 35-A is not any “tacit acceptance” of Indian Constitution but part of the resistance to safeguard the disputed nature of the region.
Terming the two day shutdown as historic, the JKDFP Spokesperson said it showed that the people of Jammu Kashmir can go to any extent to safeguard their peculiar identity which has been time and again damaged by all the pro-India parties like National Conference. Freedom Party Spokesperson also reminded Omar about infamous Indira-Abdullah accord which was a shameless effort to dilute the Special Status of Jammu Kashmir for mere political power.
“If Omar Abdullah and other likeminded politicians are so sure that majority people of Jammu Kashmir feel comfort with Indian they all must support the Right to Self Determination so that they are proved right and their political opponents are proved wrong once for all,” the JKDFP Spokesperson said and added “but these power hungry politicians only know one thing and that is political power for which they at times beg for votes and use Kashmir issue to exploit people’s political sentiments.”
The JKDFP Spokesperson said that Article 35A grants special privileges and rights to the permanent residents of Jammu Kashmir and debars non-residents from buying land or property and getting jobs in the disputed region, so this Article of Indian Constitution is protecting and safeguarding the disputed nature of the region and identity of the people living here. It is our utmost responsibility to rise to defend our special status which is guaranteed by none other than some Articles of the Indian Constitution like Article 35-A.
