Bandipora shuts to mourn killing of five militants
Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in north Kashmir’s Bandipora town for the second consecutive day Saturday to mourn the killings of five militants by government forces at Shogbaba village during a gunfight.
Besides authorities closing all the educational institutions including schools and colleges, all the shops and business establishments are shut and the traffic is off the roads, witnesses said.
The internet services also remained suspended after the encounter started on Thursday.
Two militants were killed on Thursday and three more on Friday taking the total number of killed “foreign” militants in the operation to five.
The searches were concluded late last evening and arms and ammunition was also recovered, police said.
