Sopore: Forces lob tear smoke shells to disperse protesting students

Sopore: Police on Wednesday fired tear gas canisters to disperse a group of students in the main town here, who were protesting against the conduct of examinations under the supervision of state board of school education (JKBOSE).

Dozens of students of boys higher secondary school Sopore assembled at Iqbal Chowk this morning and staged a protest over the conduct of 11th class annual examinations under the supervision of board, witnesses told. The protesting students were demanding deferment of examinations.

“Students pelted rocks at the government forces to vent their ire. In retaliation, forces used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters,” witnesses said.
