Srinagar: Top Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Mehraj-ud-din Bangroo and his close aide Faizan Mushtaq Waza have been killed in a gunfight in Fateh Kadal area of the city, Director General of police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said today.
Talking to reporters at the district police lines during the wreath laying ceremony of a slain cop Kamal Kishore, Singh said that three militants have been killed in the operation.
“Two of the militants are Mehraj-ud-din Bangroo and Faizan Mushtaq Waza. Efforts are on to identify the third one,” he said.
Singh said that Bangroo was involved in several attacks and weapon snatching incidents and his killing was a big success.
“His killing will bring a lot of peace in Srinagar city,” he said.
