Srinagar: Former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Monday condoled the death of Iqbal Khanday, who passed away last evening at Soura hospital.

“Sorry to hear about the demise of Iqbal Khanday Sb. He was Chief Secretary in J&K & worked with me when I had the privilege of heading the government. My heartfelt condolences to his family & loved ones. Allah Jannat naseeb kare,” Omar wrote on twitter.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and President People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti condoled the demise of former chief secretary. The 1978-batch IAS officer passed away late last night at SKIMS Soura.

In her condolence message, Mehbooba mentioned that Mohammad Iqbal Khandey was a simple person easy to get along with and totally dedicated to his job.

She appreciated the significant contribution of the officer to various departments of the state he has served during his tenure.  PDP President said in his death, the State Government has lost a dedicated officer and a generous human being. Mehbooba expressed her deep sympathies to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
