Brief shootout in Pulwama after army signals car bound militants to stop

Srinagar, Dec 3: A brief exchange of fire took place when militants, travelling in a car opened fire after they were signaled to stop by security forces at a checkpoint in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Monday afternoon.

Official sources told UNI that soldiers at a checkpoint in village Jandwal in Pulwama, signaled a vehicle to stop.
However, they said, militants inside the vehicle fired at the jawans, who retaliated, ensuing in a brief exchange of fire.

They said the militants later managed to escape from the spot, adding a search operation has been launched to nab the ultras.

However, an Army official said that soldiers deployed at the checkpoint signaled a vehicle to stop.
