Jammu, Dec 12 Police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler with contraband of poppy straw in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“A special naka was laid on NHW especially to check smuggling of drugs, bovine smuggling and one Punjab bound truck, which was on its way from Kashmir got intercepted,” police here said.
They said that during thorough search, the vehicle found ladden with apple boxes and recovered filled gunny bags fitted in between the apple boxes containing 43-kg of poppy straw.
The smuggler identified as Mohammad Ashraf of Tube Well Colony Malair Kotla, Punjab waa arrested while a case under NDPS Act was registered and investigation started.
