Rahul hits out at PM in Rajasthan, calls for second green revolution in farmers rally

Jaipur/New Delhi, Jan 9:Lashing out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various issues including the contentious Rafale fighter jet deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday kicked off the campaign for the coming Lok Sabha polls in Rajasthan.
On his maiden visit to the desert state after the assembly polls held in last month, in which the grand old party defeated the BJP, the Congress president hailed farmers community across Rajasthan.
“When we form the government in Centre in 2019, we will waive farm loans across the country. This is a first step to provide relief to the farmers but this is not the final solution”, Mr Gandhi said.
He said the ‘Green Revolution’ had provided food to the nation and a new green revolution is necessary in the country.
“Congress will address this issue. We will start food processing units near farms. Mega food parks will be set up and connect with the world. We will work with full spirit”, the Congress president said.
Referring to the Congress victory in three states, Mr Gandhi said the farmers have shown their strength to Mr Modi and added that Modi government too will waiving off farmer’s loans, because of the fear that the Congress will come to power and waive the loans.
Taking on Modi, the Congress president said youth of the country are tired of Mr. Modi and added that “with demonetisation he wrecked small businesses. He waived off loans of India’s richest, but how many young entrepreneurs received financial support from Modi govt?”.
“We will not disrespect Prime Minister. But if Mr Modi has given Rs 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani in the Rafale deal, there should be a JPC enquiry”, Mr Gandhi said.
The Congress president said the PM did not come to Parliament and could not show his face.
“He ran away to Punjab University. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied to the debate for more than two hours. But she could not answer any of the questions which we raised”, Mr Gandhi said.
Addressing the crowd, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the BJP has made several false promises, a government was formed on that basis.
“But we were seeing the farmers suicide, unemployment across the state under Vasundara Raje’s rule”, he said.
Rajasthan deputy Chief Minister and state PCC chief Sachin Pilot said the Congress party had shaken the Modi regime and the BJP in the recent election and the whole country witnessed it.
