Shimla : Former Union Minister Gulam Nabi Azad on Thursday attacked Modi government over the Kashmir issue, saying that it has failed to resolve the issue, and on the contrary militancy has escalatedin the valley with spur in militant attacks on Indian Armed forces’ barks and camps.
Addressing press meet here, the senior Congress leader, who was in the state to canvass for party candidate Dhani Ram Shandil charged that before 2014 only one camp of Indian Army was attacked by the terrorists however it happened 17 times in last five years.
He further alleged that the number of Indian Jawans, and civilians killed during the militancy increased in the last five years.According to Mr Azad, till Nov 2007, the south Kashmir including Pulwama, was free of militancy recorded revival of militancy in last five years due to wrong policy of the Modi rule to handle the Kashmir issue.
He claimed that, ‘Being the Chief Minister of J& K , I have declared three district of J&K militancy free, however,no candidates could not dare to canvass in these districts whenever elections were hold in last five years’.’
During my tenure as CM there were negligible cases of recruitment of local people by the militant organisation as such reports came down to ten to 12 in Congress-NCC rule’, he said.During 2017, 190 youth were recruited by the militant outfits, 100- in 2017 and 212 in the 2018 which showed alarming situation due to mishandling of the critical situation in infestation of terrorism, Mr Azad blamed.
There were engineers, doctors, PHD, post graduate and graduate degree holders, professional and youth who took up the gun in the valley, he said revealing the state of affairs of national security under Modi rule.The government were seeking the votes on the name of national security however Modi Government left the valley in chaotic state , he further blamed.
No development took place in the state of J&K and north eastern states but Modi-Shah duo keep on formulating and destabilizing the state governments, the Cong leader added.UNI
