Srinagar, June 8 : Police on Saturday arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian district of south Kashmir.
A police officer said that Police acting tough against the drug menace under the supervision of Sandeep Chaudhary IPS,SSP Shopian arrested three persons alongwith with 11.5 kg poppy straw, 288 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon plus, 300 tablets of Alprasafe and 700gm of charas.
He identified the arrested persons as Shazad Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohidin Dar, Abdul Rashid Dar son of Ghulam Qadir Dar and Younis Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Abdullah Dar, all residents of Village Wandina Melhoora.
The entire operation was led by SDPO Zainapura Wajahat Hussain, SHO Zainapura Sajjad Ahmed and DO PP Wachi SI Atal Sharma, he said.
Three separate cases under FIR No 33/2019 u/s 8/15, NDPS Act, FIR No 34 /2019 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act, and FIR No 35 /2019 u/s 8/21, 8/22 NDPS Act were registered in Police Station Zainapura against the accused trio.
He said that further investigation is underway and more arrests are expected.
While confirming it, SSP said that drugs are the greatest threat to our society and police will fight it tooth and nail. “But the most important role in that direction has to be played by parents and schools”.
Meanwhile, locals of the area have hailed the action and thanked Shopian Police for its endeavour towards drug free society. (GNS)
