Protest over lack of basic amenities in Mendhar
Poonch: Scores of people from Mendhar on Monday lodged a strong protest over the lack of basic facilities in the area while alleging the Governor-led administration of lending a cold shoulder towards their genuine demands.
Reports reaching GNS said that the protest was spearheaded by PDP leader and Sarpanch Harni Waseem Ahmed Khan. Protesters included prominent civil citizens; Nazir Hussain Shah, Saiyaf Khan, Abdul Majeed Jatt, Safeer Ahmad Shah, Aris Khan, Altaf Ahmad Khan, Waseem Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Aziz Khan who alleged the deprivation of basic amenities to the general masses in the area.
The Sumo Union President Kafeel Ahmed Khan and Mazdoor Union President Bobby Khan, Youth President Raju Pathan, Jani Madhyal, Ramiz Sudhan, Irfan Khan, Zakir Khan, Rinku Sharma, Alyas Khan also took part in the protest and blocked the PMGSY Suran Mendhar road at Harni chowk for three hours. The protesters were joined by locals who alleged the use of substandard material for the PMGSY road at Suran Mendhar. The people alleged that District Administration has paid no heed to their requests made from time to time.
Waseem Ahmad Khan alleged that Governor-led administration has failed to mitigate the sufferings of people. “Our roads are in worst conditions, water supplies are defunct and there also is no proper electricity supply”, he said. “Despite raising the issue in print and social media no positive response was given to our genuine demands,” he added. “We expect a more positive response in this regard from here on or else we will lodge a more strong protest, he further said.
