Covid-19: Kashmir police issues 28 point advisory to cops, use of bio-metric stopped

Srinagar, March 20 : Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar issued a 28-point advisory for the J&K police force which include complete ban on the use of biometric attendance in a bid to prevent spread of Covid-19 among the police personnel.

The copy of advisory accessed by the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), states that use of biometrics should be completely banned while parades, raising days, sports events should be postponed forthwith.

“Entry of people in the offices of police officers be discouraged while as important visitors should be properly screened,” reads the advisory. “All the District Police Lines (DPLs) should set up quarantine and testing facilities for the people/ cops with travel history.”

The advisory further reads that the unnecessary police deployment should be stopped forthwith while as deployed will continue to remain at vulnerable points only. “Police lock ups should be made less congested and all the cops should avoid travel by train and air till further orders.”

The advisory further said that all the Central Armed Police Force personnel have been advised to do screening of their men through their respective doctors. “Sanitizers liquid hand wash be issued for lock ups and lock up washrooms (across Kashmir),” the advisory reads, as per KNO.

It said that each officer is advised to sensitize their escort parties and not to frequently change escort parties. “All the gyms, recreational rooms, creches, located in police buildings, colonies etc,” it reads. The meetings, as per the advisory, should be done through vedio conferencing. Non-essential office travel be avoided.”  The advisory comes a day after a police officer was isolated after his mother-in law, a resident of Srinagar,  tested positive for Covid-19—(KNO)
