Heatwave Grips Kashmir, Rain Likely to Bring Relief from June 21

Amid soaring temperatures and an ongoing heatwave, Jammu and Kashmir is expected to see a shift in weather conditions starting June 21, bringing much-needed relief to residents.

According to the local Meteorological Department, June 20 will remain generally hot and dry across the Union Territory, with heatwave to severe heatwave conditions likely in isolated areas. A brief spell of rain or thundershowers is also possible in a few pockets.

However, starting June 21 and continuing through June 22, the weather is expected to turn generally cloudy, accompanied by intermittent rain and thundershowers at many places. Intense showers are also likely at some locations, particularly in the Jammu Division, raising the possibility of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

From June 23 to 24, brief spells of rain and thunderstorms are expected at scattered places, while June 25 to 27 could bring more widespread light to moderate rainfall across the region. Scattered showers are also likely to continue between June 28 and 30, the forecast said.
