JDU Warns of Socio-Economic Crisis in J&K, Alleges Administrative Paralysis

Janta Dal United (JDU), Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday warned that continued administrative paralysis and governance failures are pushing the region towards an avoidable socio-economic crisis.

JDU J&K President G.M. Shaheen said that despite repeated assurances by the government, basic governance issues remain unresolved. He pointed to delays in clearing contractors’ bills, lack of regularisation for daily wage workers, deteriorating public infrastructure and declining essential services as indicators of poor planning and weak accountability.

Shaheen alleged that funds earmarked for development are being diverted to non-essential expenditures, adversely affecting key sectors such as construction, tourism and small businesses. He said the situation has resulted in job losses, declining public confidence and growing economic distress.

The JDU leader called for immediate, time-bound clearance of all verified pending bills, a transparent roadmap for infrastructure revival, strict monitoring of government spending and accountability of officials responsible for delays and alleged mismanagement.

He warned that failure to address public grievances could deepen resentment and economic hardship, adding that the party would intensify its democratic campaign if corrective measures are not taken.
