Mega Kissan mela cum exhibition camp held at Baramulla

Srinagar: Department of Agriculture organized Kissan Mela –cum-Exhibition at Dak Banglow Baramulla today with Sayed Basharat Bukhari, Minister for Horticulture, as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion 15 stalls were established for displaying various items related to Agriculture and its allied sectors. During the inspection of the various stalls, the Minister was briefed by the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry departments with regard to their achievements and the latest farmer friendly schemes, equipments /Technologies, besides some private entrepreneurs also displayed their items during the Mela-cum-Exhibition.
The minister appreciated the role of Agriculture department for conducting such event wherein they brought all the allied sectors under one umbrella to work for the upliftment of the farming community resulting which the state can prosper and the issue of unemployment of youths can be addressed to a larger extent. The Minister also laid emphases on the farming community to take advantage of various schemes of Agriculture and its allied sectors which are in vogue for their better future. The Minister stressed to promote Apiculture and Mushroom – small -cottage industries , which are both income and employment generating sectors..
During the function, the Minister informed that Agriculture Department has distributed an amount of Rs.1 Crore 29 lakh amongst the farming community as financial assistance during the current financial year 2016-17 under the various schemes viz .RKVY, NFSM, PMKSY, MIHD and NMAET for purchasing of Agriculture machineries, creation of water resources, construction of Godowns and Green houses etc. It was given out that the Agriculture department distributed 19 Power Tiller, 02 Tractors, 103 Irrigation pump sets, 145 tube well, 16 Green Houses, 88 water Harvesting Tanks, 4 Godowns to the farmers of the district during 2016-17.
DDC Baramulla, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Officers from Agriculture and Horticulture, Sectoral Officers, Scientists from SKAUST, field functionaries and Farmers from various areas of District Baramulla also attended the camp.
On this occasion, the DDC ,Baramulla, said that district administration will provide all the facilities to the farmers of the district in agriculture and its allied sectors while as Scientists from SKAUST provide awareness to the farmers and asked them to adopt latest techniques and methods in the farming sector so that the cultivation will be increased in the District.
