Its official: ECI halts Govt order of appointing 16 PSU VCs
CEO says probe initiated, New Delhi to take final call
Srinagar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has put the appointment of Vice Chairpersons to Public Sector Undertakings in abeyance following a complaint by Opposition National Conference to the government order, citing violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shantmanu, told KNS that Election Commission of India has put the recent appointments of VCs to different PSUs in abeyance.
“The appointments of 16 Vice Chairpersons have been placed in abeyance following the complaints against their appointment,” the CEO told KNS.
“We have sent the names of these candidates forward and the further investigation regarding their appointment has been initiated,” he added.
Notably, on Mar 10, the J&K Government had approved the appointment of 14 middle-rung leaders of ruling PDP-BJP Government as Vice-Chairmen of different Corporations in the State.
The appointed of VCs on Mar 10 was opposed by NC that sent a complaint to ECI.
It is worth to mention here that by-polls to two parliamentary seats of Srinagar and Anantnag are slated for April 9 and 12 respectively.
