Baramulla working journalists hold meeting at Sopore

A meeting of working journalist’s was held today at Dak Bungalow Sopore in this north Kashmir district.

Meeting was chaired by Baramulla Working Journalists Association, President Mr Gulzar Ahmad Zargar, besides this various members of executive body including Tahir-ul Haq, Iqbal Amin, Abid Nabi, Irshad Bhat, Sheikh Dawood, Abdul Majeed Sheeri and new members from print and electronic media were present there.

During this meeting various members put forth their suggestions about how to work under one banner that is BWJA.

“We have united ourselves with the BWJA, but there are some mischievous people who are blackmailing various agencies by posing themselves as journalists, said members.

They said that, need of the hour is to highlight the public grievances and raise every issues which are concerned with the general public, adding that there is no space for black sheep’s/miscreants who are creating problems for other fellow beings, however the law enforcing agencies should dealt strictly and must take stern action against them.

Meanwhile President BWJA, Mr Gulzar Ahmad Zargar gave patient hearing to the grievances which were raised by the members of association.

While addressing the members of media fraternity, president highlighted the role of media in society.

Media being a fourth pillar of the democracy, is a watchdog of this society.

President said that, by doing its professionalism, BWJA has become a household name in the entire Kashmir valley and people know this association across the country.

He said that BWJA is affiliated with, Kashmir Press Association’ and recently supported boycott call which was given by Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) and that was highly appreciated by one and all.

There is no press club in Sopore town, but there is a Sub Office of BWJA in Sopore Town, president added.

Working journalists from print and electronic media unanimously  nominated two members of BWJA, Mr Suhail Ahmad Khan, alias Buboo and Mr Asim Shah as in charge of Sopore Sub office, who will look after the problems of their fellow beings.

“While taking the members into confidence, Mr Gulzar Zargar said that, every working journalist of BWJA is doing his work professionally and we will not allow anybody or agency to harass our members in any forum, while adding he said that it also becomes the moral obligation of every members to focus on the ethics of journalism so that no one can raise a finger on our association.

However on this occasion, many new entrants got membership with BWJA,
