Traffic congestion cause hurdle to reach on time: Deputy Dir F&ES
Srinagar: At least eight residential houses were damaged in a massive blaze that engulfed in Chinar Bagh locality of Srinagar on Monday morning, officials said.
Officials said that six residential houses were fully damaged while two residential houses got damaged partially in the fire incident.
The houses according to the officials were belonging to Shabir Ah Sheikh, son of Ab Ahad Sheikh, Juma Sheikh, son of Wahab Sheikh, Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh, son of Late Ab Aziz Sheikh, Muhammad Ramzan Sheikh, son of Gaffar Sheikh, Muhammad Amin Sheikh, son of Abdullah Faqir Sheikh, Faqir Muhammad Abdullah alias Peer Sahab and others.
They said that two Fire and Emergency Service officials identified as Ct. Ab Hamid Belt no.1461 andHC Shamus Din Belt no. 675 were injured while they were dousing the blaze.
Meanwhile, the locals said that the students of SP higher secondary also played a vital role in dousing the fire and rescuing the family members from the residential houses.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director F&ES, Muhammad Akbar said that the traffic jam has caused hurdle in their way to reach the spot.
“Keeping in view of the congestion on the area, at least 10 vehicles were sent to the spot to douse the fire but the traffic congestion on the way has caused hurdle to reach the spot on time,” he said, adding that despite the traffic congestion, the officials managed to reach the spot and doused the fire.
He said that the LPG gas cylinder blast resulted in the spreading of fire. “We had to face immense hardships to douse the fire,” he said.
