Militants attack house of PDP minister, 2 police guards injured

 

Srinagar: Two police personnel were injured when militants attacked house of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) minister in the coalition government in south Kashmir district late last night, official sources said here.

They said a group of militants attacked with automatic weapons the house of Minister of state for Hajj and Auqaf and MLA at Dooru in south Kashmir district of Anantnag late last night.

Police personnel guarding the house also retaliated and in the exchange of fire two police personnel were injured, who have been hospitalised. Militants later entered the house and took away weapons of police personnel, they said.

However, the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness before security forces rushed from nearby camps could reach there.

The minister was not present in the house, they said.

Later security forces conducted search operation in the area but the militants had escaped.

The attack on the ministers house came hours after two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in an encounter in Pulwama district.
