Weather turns pleasant due to sunshine in Kashmir

 

Srinagar:  Weather again turned pleasant as Sun came out much to the delight of the people, improving the maximum temperature after witnessing dip in the day temperature due to rain and overcast conditions yesterday.

Meanwhile, major improvement was recorded in the night temperature at Leh, where mercury surged and settled at 9.1 degree due to overcast skies, against 1.9 degree recorded yesterday.

A Met department spokesperson told UNI that weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours in the state.

World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, received fresh overnight rain, resulting in dip in the night temperature though it was still above normal. Against 2.8 degree recorded yesterday, the mercury at Gulmarg settled at 0.6 degree.

The night temperature in the summer capital, Srinagar also dipped a degree from yesterday due to rain and settled at 10.1 degree, which is about 4 notches above normal. However, people woke up to a pleasant morning due to sunshine and as the day progressed, the weather further improved in Srinagar.

The mercury at Qazigund, gateway to Kashmir valley, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, surged 2 degree from yesterday and settled at 9.6 degree, which is over 4 notches above normal.

Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, also witnessed some improvement in the night temperature due to overcast conditions. Against 5.2 degree recorded yesterday, the night temperature at Pahalgam was 5.6 degree, which is 3 notches above normal.

However, another health resort of Kokernag witnessed a dip in the night temperature after mercury plunged and settled at 7.3 degree, against 9.3 degree recorded yesterday.

Meanwhile, the night temperature at Kupwara in north Kashmir witnessed an improvement of 1 degree from yesterday and settled at 7.4 degree.
