Kashmir cricket team dons green jersey, sings Pakistan’s anthem before match; police files case

Ganderbal: Ganderbal Police identified and have detained players of local cricket club who were seen wearing Pakistan cricket teams jersey in a viral video on social media. The police team arrested organisers of club as well.

It is pertinently mentioned here that The Video of match which was Posted on Social network sites and sections of Media in which team that wore the Pakistani kit is named after Baba Darya ud Din, a popular saint whose shrine is situated in Ganderbal.

Their opponents wore white prior to the start of the match, the commentator announced through loudspeakers that Pakistani national anthem would be played before the match as a ‘mark of respect’.

Police Surveillance Team Headed by Dysp Ganderbal Mr.Rayees Ahmad first arrested three person’s in this connection who organized the tournament namely Hilal ahmad wani son of Abdul Khaliq Wani resident of Chinner Rather Mohallah,  Zahoor Ahmad Sofi son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi resident of Bon Mohallah Chinner, Muzafar Ahmad Rather son of Ali Mohd. Rather resident of Bon Mohallah Chinner.

After verifying they said match was played at Playground Chinner Bon Mohallah Near Grid Station as the match Played between Khalmullah vs Chinner while the Police team today detained all players of said cricket club.

Six matches of Chinner Premier League have been played till this date. As per media reports, the  match was held at the Chinnar ground in Ganderbal on April 2, the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu Kashmir for the Chenani-Nashri tunnel inaugural Ceremony.

Police have detained all cricket players and started further investigation in this case.
