Kashmir Vision newspaper re-launched

Vice Chancellor KU, Fayaz Kaloo presides function
SRINAGAR: Kashmir Vision, a daily newspaper, which believes in the sharp, blunt and straight delivery of the news, was re-launched here on Thursday at Institute of Public management (IPMA) Srinagar.
The inaugural function was presided by the president of Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) Fayaz Ahmad kaloo and the guest of honour was vice chancellor of university of Kashmir Prof Khursheed Ahmad Andrabi.

 


Speaking on the occasion, Prof Andrabi said that Journalism should appeal the minds and soul of a person. “Media should focus on the actual morality of the people of the region.” He suggested. “The media should include diverse opinion in the field.” He added.
Masood Hussain, an eminent media personality threw light on the various aspects of the media. He said that it is very difficult for a person to report its own conflict. Hussain spoke about the emergence of media from the pre-1989 period when there was only government source of news. “Media is evolving and there are more challenges to the digital medium than print.” He said.
Shujat Bhukari’s , a senior journalist and editor in chief of a local daily while speaking on the occasion said that it is very unfortunate for the local media that it has to depend on the government advertisements than private advertisement. He said that as the local media is focusing on the digital medium, there is a still a lot of scope for the print media.
“It is time for us not only to introspect ourselves but to contribute to the society as well.” Bhukari said.
In his welcome address Editor in chief of the Kashmir Vision Shafat Kira said that “we believe in the dynamic approach to the profession of journalism”.
“We are obvious to the fact that media is changing and we ought to follow the trend.” He said.
Earlier the former media teacher and public relations officer of Kashmir University Showkat Shafi introduced the guests and anchored the whole ceremony.
