2 killed, 4 injured during scuffle on land dispute
Accused arrested by police
Srinagar: Two persons were killed and four others injured in Uri after a man fired from his licensed 12-bore rifle on a group of people during a scuffle on land dispute. The accused along with 20 others has been arrested by the police.
As per KNS correspondent, Manzoor Sheeri, who quoting witnesses, said that the accused Mushtaq Sheikh fired indiscriminately when a group of men went to his house to resolve a land dispute.
Mushtaq rushed outside his house and fired indiscriminately from his rifle towards the group. The fire missed the group and hit six persons in which two persons died.
While Javaid Ahmad of Silikoot, Uri, died on the spot, Jahangir Ahmad of Trikanjan succumbed on way to hospital.
Those injured have been identified as Faisal Ahmad, Muhammad Afzal, Ilyas Ahmad and Ghulam Hassan Chalkoo. They are being treated in the Baramulla hospital and their condition is stated to be stable by the doctors.
Witnesses said that the deceased and the injured had not association two groups in dispute over land.
“Javaid was walking on the road when the gunfire hit him, Jahangir was a bystander like other injured persons when the scuffle took place,” witnesses said.
A police official said that they have registered an FIR under section 302, 307 RPC and have started inquest proceedings into the incident. (KNS)
