Reach out to people in your constituencies: CM tells PDP legislators

 

Mehbooba chairs legislators meet on Tuesday evening

Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has asked the party legislators to remain available in their constituencies to mitigate the grievances of the people.

Mehbooba told the legislators to reach out to people in their constituencies to address their grievances.

Mehbooba, who is also the President of PDP, chaired a three-hour long meeting of the party’s legislators on Tuesday evening to seek their opinion on functioning of the government with the BJP.

A senior PDP legislator told KNS that the all the legislators assured the party president and chief minister of their support to her decisions.

The legislators said that all the MLAs and MLCs assured the chief minister that they will reach out to the people and restore in bringing peace and development to the Kashmir valley.

The chief minister told the legislators that if they face difficulties in addressing the grievances of the people, they should be ready to face them.

The legislators told Mehbooba that centre government should political initiatives in Kashmir as per the agenda of alliance agreed upon with the alliance partner, BJP.

This was the second meeting of the chief minister with her party leaders after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi wherein she urged the PM to take political initiatives on Kashmir to defuse the ongoing volatile situation in the State.

On Monday, Mehbooba chaired a meeting of her party’s Core Group and promised them that she would not hesitate to leave the chair of the CM if New Delhi fails to take political initiatives on Kashmir.

The meeting on Tuesday also discussed by-polls on Anantnag parliament seat which are slated for May 25.
