Srinagar: Army today paid a rich tribute to three soldier, including a Captain, who were martyred in a fidayeen attack on an Army camp in the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara yesterday.
A Defence Ministry spokesperson said that Captain Ayush Yadav, Subedar Bhoop Singh Gujjar and Naik BhootaVenkat Ramana, who attained martyrdom yesterday, were today paid a befitting tribute by the Army.
He said homage was paid to the martyred heroes in a solemn wreath laying ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.
The spokesperson said the Army salutes the sacrifice of the martyrs and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and it will forever remain the Army’s responsibility to ensure they lead a life of dignity and pride.
“26-year-old Captain Yadav is a resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh while Subedar Gujjar, 46, is a resident of Dausa, Rajasthan,” he said, adding 38-year-old Ramana hailed from Kancharapalam, Andhra Pradesh.
He said the mortal remains of the martyrs are being taken to their native places for last rites.
Three soldiers were martyred and two militants gunned down as the Army foiled a fidayeen attack on its camp in Kupwara yesterday. Five soldiers were also injured in the attack.
