Amid Kashmir tensions; Ram Madhav meets Mehbooba

Srinagar: BJP national general secretary ram Madhva met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Sunday afternoon at the latter’s residence as the wedge between the two parties is widening over dialogue with Hurriyat for resolution of Kashmir issue.

Madhav arrived in Srinagar from Jammu in the afternoon and drove to the chief minister’s residence at Fairview Gupkar here and the two held a meeting for half an hour.

The BJP leader declined to talk to reporters about the meeting, the PDP too remained tight-lipped about the meeting.

Sources in BJP told KNS that Madhav and Mehbooba discussed the prevailing situation, by-polls and the issues between coalition partners.

Sources said that Madhav was sent to Kashmir by the party president Amit Shah in which Shah has conveyed that he was misquoted by media in Jammu about focusing on Jammu and Ladakh to win 2020 assembly elections.

The gaps between alliance partners, PDP and BJP, have been increasing following “backstabbing” by BJP on Legislative council seat and the controversial statements by the BJP leaders on talks with Hurriyat on Kashmir issue.

PDP is insisting on its coalition partner to follow agenda of alliance that was inked between the two during formation of the government.
