Cancellation of by-poll won’t bury reality of Kashmir dispute: Shabir Shah
‘Kashmiris have rejected the Indian supremacy’
Srinagar, May 2: Reacting against the cancellation of the Islamabad (Anantnag) by-poll, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday said the move makes it clear that Kashmiris have rejected the Indian supremacy.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said the people of Jammu Kashmir have sent a clear message to India that the struggle against the forcible occupation will continue. “The selection or election is not any solution to the (Kashmir) issue and that peace in the subcontinent is unlikely until the dispute is resolved. New Delhi should act with wisdom and accept the reality,” he said.
Terming the efforts being taken to enforce India’s supremacy in Jammu Kashmir as New Delhi’s stubbornness, Shah said such patchwork won’t help in reducing the tension in the region. “The solution lies in resolving the issue through tripartite talks or by implementing the UN resolutions,” he said.
The DFP chairman said the billions of rupees the Government of India spends to continue its illegal and forcible occupation of Jammu Kashmir is a waste, however, this money can eradicate the poverty in India. “The last seven decades are a proof that India didn’t achieve anything through its forcible occupation of J&K and its relations with Pakistan have only strained due to unresolved Kashmir,” he said.
Shah also strongly condemned the ongoing state-sponsored oppression in Valley.
