India prepared to deal with misadventure from Pakistan: BSF
Shillong: Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) K K Sharma today said India was prepared to deal with any misadventure from across the Line of Control by Pakistani troops or terrorists following the mutilation of the bodies of two soldiers by Pakistan.
“They (Pakistan) keep on infiltrating and sending terrorists. We (Indian security forces keep on fighting them and you can see that so far that we have successfully counter all their nefarious attempts,” Mr Sharma told reporters here in Meghalaya.
“I can assure that the Indian Security forces are fully prepared for any eventuality and we will give a befitting reply to any misadventure from the other side,” he said.
Mr Sharma also termed the mutilation and beheading the bodies of Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and BSF Head Constable Prem Sagar on Monday along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan Army as “very unfortunate”
“The action of Pakistani army was “un-soldierly” because they mutilated the bodies and beheaded of Naib Subedar and BSF head constable. That is regrettable and I wish such a thing should not happen again,” Mr Sharma stated.
He said the two dead soldiers were out for repairing a communication cable and they were hardly 100 yards away from their own FTF when they were attacked under heavy shelling by the Pakistan Army to give cover to the terrorist and taking this diversion.
Meanwhile, the BSF official said Bangladesh is no longer a safe haven for Indian insurgents.
“They (Indian insurgents) are no longer active in Bangladesh. There were few training camps and hideouts of Indian insurgents and on our (BSF) information, the BGB (Border Guards of Bangladesh) has taken effective actions and destroyed them,” he said.
If there is any definite knowledge about the existence of Indian insurgent’s camps in Bangladesh soil, he said action will be taken by the Bangladesh security forces to dismantle them.
Expressing concern on the cattle smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border, Sharma said his troopers is continuing to make all efforts to thwart the cattle smuggling to Bangladesh.
“You must realize that the populations on both sides of the border have been indulging in this activity for a very long time. It (cattle smuggling) is a very dynamic kind of a situation and wherever we become strict and ensure that proper guarding is done and cattle smuggling is stopped in that area. They immediately shift to another area so it is a dynamic situation, inspite of our best efforts this activity has not been able completely stop,” he said.
However, Mr Sharma said BSF is in the process of covering the gaps along the India-Bangladesh border with technological solutions and very soon we will be installing an intruder detection alarm system to detect any intruder.
On the Fake Indian Currency notes, Mr Sharma said the BSF has a good coordination and relations with the BGB in containing this problem of FICN.
“Whenever we provide them information they (BGB) have taken very prompt action and we have made some very good seizures of the FICN of the new currency notes,” he said.
