Polythene bags confiscated by SDA in Sonamarg

Ganderbal: In a good move of Sonamarg Development Authority where market monitoring team on Monday seized number of polythene bags in market checking  from Sonamarg in this Central Ganderbal.

As per the details available with Kashmir Age, the SDA team headed by squad president on the order of Chief Executive officer (SDA) conducted a massive market checking where the market checking squad confiscated scores of polythene bags. Several shopkeepers were let off with a stern warning and on a pledge by them that they would not use polythene bags in their shops again and as per advisory issued by SDA that there is complete ban for the use of polythene bags in the tourist destination of Sonamarg.

Whereas SDA market checking team appealed to the shopkeepers to abstain from using polythene bags in Sonamarg as it is becoming a big headache. In present the Sonamarg Development Authority using utility vehicle for Sonamarg waste collection in every year and try to clear the surrounding of Sonamarg a tourist destination.

The use, sale and import of polythene bags is banned in the state under direction from Jammu Kashmir High Court. Though the Sonamarg Development Authority in Tourist destination already announced the ban on the use of polythene bags, the sale, use and storage of the plastic bags not meeting the standard and anyone found violating the law is liable to a fine.
