Mobile internet, train service snapped in Kashmir
SRINAGAR : Following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat and his associate Faizan Bhat, authorities snapped mobile internet and train services in Kashmir valley.
Official said that the measures have been taken to prevent law and order situation. Government decided to snap mobile internet services in Kashmir, a mere 12-odd hours after an earlier month-long internet ban had ended.
However, police sources told that as an encounter with militants was going – in which Sabzar was killed, stone-pelters were sending audio messages via WhatsApp urging people to come to militants aid and to spread the message about the encounter.
The sources added that stone-pelters were also being mobilized through various Whatsapp groups, and many are already out on the streets in several parts of the Valley, following Ahmad’s killing by security forces. “Loudspeakers were also used in some areas of Tral to reach Saimoh to help the militant,” the police sources added.
Meanwhile the train service was suspended following widespread protests and clashes especially in south Kashmir. “We have suspended all train services between Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir,” a Railway official said. Similarly, railway service on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal has also been suspended for security reasons.
