SRINAGAR: // Youth icon and symbol of Kashmiri resistance Shaheed I Kashmir Ishfaq Majeed Wani was a great leader who strived for the freedom of this nation and sacrificed himself for the righteous cause. This nation can never forget the struggle and services of this great soul. This was stated by the incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik while recalling the struggle and sacrifices of his friend and colleague Shaheed I Kashmir Ishfaq Majeed Wan who embraced martyrdom on 3rd day of Ramadhan in 1990.it is worth to mention that Shaheed Ishfaq Majeed embraced martyrdom on third day of Ramadan as per his wish that he himself wrote in his dairy “I wish it is holy month of Ramadhan and I am fasting and embrace martyrdom while fasting”. While recalling the great martyr, JKLF chairman said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a born leader, a humble slave of Allah almighty and a true warrior who whenever took ,took it in the way of truth and justice. He was a symbol of Courage, Fearlessness, religiousness, passion, and resistance against the False and injustice. He said that it was Ashfaq Majeed Wani’s gallant leadership in 1988 that gave courage to hundreds of young men to stand up for the cause of freedom of our mother land. Ashfaq Majid Wani led a people’s revolution in 1990 and changed the 5000 year old history of Kashmir. It was his leadership that united a nation which was tagged as coward and inactive, for the just cause of freedom and history bears a witness that thousands of young Kashmiris followed Ashfaq Majeed Wani in this struggle. Yasin Malik said that Shaheed I Kashmir was a Practicing follower of Quran, a brave commander, a wise political leader, a refined diplomat, a fiery speaker, a respected student and a great athlete .He said that Ashfaq was a True successor of father of nation Mohammad Maqbool Bhat Shaheed who endeavored hardships but never budged before the forces of falsehood and oppression. Yasin Malik said that a freedom struggle that has been nourished by the sacred blood of martyrs like Ashfaq Majeed Wani cannot be defeated by any military might like India and today on the martyrdom day of this great son of soil we reiterate our pledge to take forward the sacred mission of these great martyrs to its desired goal.
