Poppy crops spread over 70 kanals destroyed in central Kashmir
SRINAGAR: Poppy cultivation spread over 70 kanals of land has been destroyed in the central Kashmir district of Badgam by Excise Department team, officials said here today.
They said the acting on a tip off about the cultivation of poppy, a team of Excise Department headed by Excise and Taxation Officer, North Kashmir Range, raided village Mamat in Badgam district.
During the raid the team destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 70 kanals of land, they said adding the drive against the cultivation of banned crops will continue.
Meanwhile, Deputy Excise Commissioner said that, so far, a total of 2673 kanals of poppy has been destroyed in Kashmir valley by the Excise Department.(UNI)
