Transplantation of paddy saplings begins in Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH: Not with standing the odd weather conditions transplantation of paddy saplings is in full swing in Danda Kellar area of Bhaderwah and paddy fields are echoing with traditional Bhaderwahi folk songs.Bad weather conditions have delayed and hampered farming in the entire Bhaderwah . But farmers in the Danda Kellar area of Bhaderwah are braving all odds and are preparing their fields for the kharif crop. At many places of Bhaderwah the farming land is overnight turning in to green swathes of fields.The transplantation of rice saplings is at its highest level of activity in the Bhaderwah and the farms are reverberating with traditional Bhaderwahi folk songs.The back-breaking toil in water filled fields is not just hard labor – it is harbinger of hope and happiness. The dominating feature remains the folk singing which one can hear from every field.“It is our rich tradition to sing folk songs during farming. I feel pride to sing with my women co fellows while working in our fields,” said Neelam Devi , of Danda Kellar village.“We feel relaxed while singing and it helps us finish the work easily. It gives solace to our minds and time passes without telling,” she said
