GST Row: KTMF calls for shutdown in Kashmir tomorrow

SRINAGAR: Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has called for Kashmir Bandh tomorrow against the proposed implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state.

KTMF president Muhammad Yasin Khan during a press conference, said that the traders’ community is ready to face “any losses” but won’t allow implementation of GST in the state in its present form.

He said that even if coming in the way of GST means sacrificing our lives we are ready for it. “We won’t allow any amendments to the special status of J&K. One Tax and One India is an idea which is not acceptable in our state,” Khan said.

Khan maintained that traders in the state have never been against any taxes. KTMF will be holding a sit-in protest at city centre Lal Chowk  at 11:30 am while protests against the new tax regime will also be held across district headquarters and tehsils, Khan informed.
