ED’s NBW against Shabir Shah, other leaders a deliberate attempt to damage freedom movement: Freedom Party
SRINAGAR: The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has termed the issuing of non-bailable warrant against its chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah by the Enforcement Directorate as unjustified and unconstitutional.
In a statement issued to press, DFP secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari said the move is a deliberate attempt aimed at implicating Shah in false cases. He said since 2011, Shah was either under house arrest or detained in jails.
Tari said Indian agencies have started a well-thought-out campaign against the resistance leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah in order to malign their image.
Moulana made it clear that the resistance camp will neither be cowed down by such measures nor can India break our resolve to fight for our rights. He said the Enforcement Directorate is resorting to political vengeance against the resistance leadership.
The DFP secretary general said Shabir Ahmad Shah has been on the forefront of the freedom movement of Jammu Kashmir for the last four decades and has spent 30 years in jails. “During this period, numerous repressive measures have been adopted against Shah Sahib but he never surrendered before Delhi and stood as a solid rock against on his stand,” he said.
Tari said the issuing of notices to the resistance leadership by Indian investigating agencies were aimed at scaring them but “such tactics won’t make us give up the struggle for freedom from India occupation and we will continue to represent the aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir”.
Moulana said the resistance leadership are committed to their stand on Kashmir issue that it be resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of its people.
Meanwhile, Tari paid glowing tributes to two youth Kifayat and Jahangir who were martyred in gunfight with forces in Pulwama. He said scores of people were injured in forces’ firing and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
Moulana Tari expressed concern over the continuous loss of lives of “mujahideen” and said there is a need to identify the ‘Mir-e-Jafars’ and ‘Mir-e-Sadiqs’ who are damaging the freedom movement.
