No cameras, mobile phones inside Legislative Assembly, Council
SRINAGAR: Reporters, covering four-day special session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and Assembly called from today on implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), will not be allowed to carry cameras and mobile phones.
An official spokesman said only journalists without cameras, mobile phones and any sort of equipment, will be allowed to cover the House proceedings.
The Communist Party of India (M), Opposition National Conference (NC) and Congress have already criticised the decision to ban live coverage of the proceedings in both the Houses.
‘It is wrong,’ said Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly (LA) Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi this morning.
‘I too got the information that media persons, particularly representing television channels, will not be allowed to cover the proceedings of the House live,’ he said, adding that even still cameras and mobile phones were not allowed. (UNI)
