Not a scape goat, fighting for ideology to protect and empower the oppressed:Meira
PATNA: Senior Congress leader and Presidential candidate of 17 opposition parties Meira Kumar today said she was contesting on the basis of ideology for prosperity and empowerment of oppressed and not as a “scape goat”, as being portrayed by some parties.
Mr Kumar, after winding up three days visit to Bihar to seek support for Presidential elections, told media persons here that she was not a scape goat and contesting election for top post of country on the basis of principles and ideology for protecting the interest of Scheduled Castes(SCs), Scheduled Tribes(STs) and poor.
“A total of 17 opposition parties have come together and made me common candidate for Presidential elections, which is not a easy development”, Congress leader said adding that parties supporting her , stood together to stop communal forces and strengthen the secular ideology.
Ms Kumar, while responding to query on remark of Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar that she was made the candidate only to lose Presidential elections, said that no one should treat her a scape goat.
It was very difficult for any one to fight the battle of ideolgy, she noted. (UNI)
