Anti-crime branch of CBI raids in Jharkhand and West Bengal against fake businesses and hawala brokers
Kolkata: The anti-crime branch of CBI today raided some 30 places in West Bengal and Jharkhand against many fake companies and hawala brokers, who have made huge money illegally and deposited in foreign banks and in benami accounts in the country. Sources in the CBI office here said the sleuths of anti-crime branch of the central investigating agency fanned out early in the morning and began raiding simultaneously mainly in Kolkata and Ranchi. They said some CBI teams began raiding the houses and offices of fake business people and hawala brokers at Alipur in south Kolkata and seized many incriminating documents. The raid was also conducted on a senior Income Tax (IT) official and false documents and money deposits certificates were also seized. The raids were to follow up of recent Union Government announcement to curb the fake business across the country. (UNI)
