Power supply lines tied to poles and trees posing danger in Bhalessa ,Doda
DODA : The power supply lines tied to poles in Dhossa area of ward no 04 Bhalessa in Doda district and trees were lying naked and posing a serious danger to humans and livestock. The electricity is disrupted for hours despite of paying a monthly power tariff .The voltage is so low that it fails to illuminate even a small room. The people have no choice but to take dinner in candlelight.A local of Dhossa Haresh Manhas said matter of the fact is that in most of the far flung villages of Bhalessa , the electric wires have been made to pass through trees and tied with residential houses. The wires are decayed and cannot withstand even a few inches of snowfall. “We fail to understand that why PDD had not enlisted these far flung areas for the repair as in most villages no repairs have been done since the electrification scheme was launched decades before in Jammu and Kashmir, Manhas said.People said they were forced to pay the power tariff according to the curtailment schedule but electricity was not provided to them.A group of students complained that power is playing hide and seek and during night hours, the supply goes off for hours.“We are forced to study under candlelight. One major reason behind dismal performance in studies is erratic power supply,” claimed students .“We do not have power supply for hours. Unscheduled power cuts have become order of the day,” said students .It is notable to mention here that in most villages in Bhalessa no repairs have been done since the Rural Electrification (RE) Scheme was launched decades before. The population and the topographical scenario of the residential areas have got changed largely since then. Residents and experts feel the dire need of removal and substitution of portable wires, electric poles and other infrastructure in almost all the villages of Bhalessa in Doda district .People expect the repairs of damaged and deteriorated infrastructure.
