Bus owners holds “Chakka Jam” to protest shifting of Batamaloo GBS
SRINAGAR: To protest the proposed shifting of Batamaloo General Bus Stand to Parimpora in city outskirts, Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association holds a “Chakka Jam” across Kashmir on Thursday. Transporters and various trade associations have been opposing the shifting which they claim would cause them huge business losses.
Bus owners left buses of Western Bus Service at the Batamaloo GBS as a mark of protest. They said that the bus stand at Parimpora is not worth a bus stand but we have been told to shift soon which is quite an illogical move. They said that theshifting of Batamaloo GBS to Parimpora will cause inconvenience to commuters travelling from North Kashmir to the summer capital.
Meanwhile, umbrella business organisations including both factions of Kashmir Economic Alliance supported the “Chakka Jam” strike.
