Manhas flays Govt for ignoring Chenab Valley, demands massive publicity drive

JAMMU: Congress Sewa Dal In-charge Chenab Valley, Sanjay Manhas expressed resentment against the State Government for not showing its serious concern towards the problems being faced by the Chenab Valley being related to the tourism infrastructure.

Manhas mentioned that this year tourists from across the country had visited Chenab Valley in large numbers but due to the step-motherly attitude of the government the Chenab Valley having huge tourism potential is yet to find a space in the tourism map of the State and the country.

“Dozens of tourist destinations in this remote area are yet to be tapped. They have the potential for attracting tourists from all over the world and could become a favourite destination for Bollywood to shoot movies. The government has so far focused on boosting the tourism potential of the Kashmir Valley while the Chenab valley has been neglected,” Manhas stated.

“The government should promote tourism by undertaking a massive publicity drive to promote un-explored destinations of Chenab Valley. Tourism is the backbone of the State’s economy and government should make all efforts to promote its tourism potential,” Manhas emphasized.

Manhas also lambasted the State Government for its failure to start the Gandola project in Bhadarwah till date.

“The entire Chenab Valley is facing hardship because of the discriminatory attitude of the present dispensation. They have also alleged that the government resorted to “hallow sloganeering” only when it came to the development of the Chenab Valley,” he alleged.

Manhas expressed gratitude to the people of Chenab Valley for serving the tourists with great devotion and hospitality which will forced them to pay their visit for the next so many years.
