Restrictions lifted in SeK, downtown in Srinagar though colleges, HSS remain shut
SRINAGAR: Curfew-like restrictions imposed in the Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and downtown besides parts of civil lines early yesterday as a precautionary measure to prevent any law and order problem, have been lifted.
Apprehending trouble after the death of two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including most wanted Abu Dujana, in an encounter on August 1 in Pulwama, the District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, had imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC in the areas under the jurisdiction of five police stations in SeK and downtown besides Kralkhud in the old city and Maisuma in the civil lines yesterday.
There are no restriction in any part of Srinagar today, officials said.
However, the DM had ordered that class work will remain suspended in SP College, Amar Singh College, Gandhi College, Islamia College, SP Higher Secondary School (HSS) and MP HSS today.
“The decision to suspended classes in these institutes has been taken to prevent any law and order problem,” the officials said. (UNI)
