Need to be mindful of expectations of young and poor & marginalised sections: Prez
New Delhi: Noting that the All India Services have played a significant role in the development of the country, President Ram Nath Kovind today stressed the need for these officers to be mindful of the expectations of the young population, and the poor and marginalised sections of our society.
‘The All India Services have played a significant role in the development of the country and the growth of our economy.
Even so, we have to be mindful of the expectations of our young population, and of the poor and marginalised sections of our society,’ the President said while addressing a group of 65 State Civil Service Officers promoted to the IAS and attending the 119th Induction Training Programme at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie who called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
‘We cannot ignore that there are often legitimate questions that are asked about the quality of our governance systems and our bureaucratic mechanism,’ he said.
Stressing the need for the officers to be role models in their personal conduct, the President said,’In your professional conduct, honesty and integrity, humility, and sensitivity to the diversity of India and of our society are non-negotiable. (UNI)
